Belles & Whistles Celebration And Fundraiser A Success

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Blazer Boosters hosted the annual Belles & Whistles Celebration and Fundraiser on Thursday, April 17, at the UAB National Alumni Society House. The event raised over $34,000 and all proceeds benefit UAB female student-athletes. UAB Athletics presently sponsors 12 female sports teams, totaling approximately 150 student-athletes.
Recent accomplishments by UAB female student-athletes were highlighted by UAB Athletics Director Brian Mackin and Senior Associate Athletics Director Derita Ratcliffe. The keynote address was delivered from Birmingham native Jennifer Chandler, a 1976 Olympic Gold Medalist in Springboard Diving. Lenora Pate, a lawyer with Sirote & Permutt, P.C. and a graduate of UAB, served as the event’s emcee.
