Prinzing Is The UAB Student-Athlete Of The Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior designated hitter Ryan Prinzing of the UAB baseball team is the UAB Student-Athlete of the Week, as announced on Wednesday. The UAB Student-Athlete of the Week recognizes Blazer student-athletes who standout on and off their respective fields of play.
Prinzing and the UAB baseball team have gotten off to a hot start to the 2014 season. UAB has won its first eight games, its best start to a year since 2003.
The Oswego, Ill. native leads the squad in batting average (.385), triples (1), RBI (6), slugging percentage (.462), and on-base percentage (.543). Last week, Prinzing batted .500 over a five-game stretch, had 4 RBI, and collected his third triple of his collegiate career.
Off the field, Prinzing excels in the classroom, as well. The management major owns a 3.67 cumulative GPA. Last year, Prinzing became the first member of the UAB baseball program to earn Academic All-America accolades. In addition, he is a three-time member of the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
Prinzing and the UAB baseball team take on Samford on Wednesday afternoon on the road. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m.
