BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB women's basketball will have a quick turnaround following Friday's win as it hosts South Alabama on Sunday afternoon. The Blazers and Jaguars will tip at 1 p.m. CT.
UAB (5-4) will play its second game of a four-game home stand. The Blazers returned to Bartow Friday night with a 65-56 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

Blazer Bits
- UAB is in its second of a four-game home stand. The Blazers are coming off a win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 65-56, on Friday night after returning to Bartow for the first time in a month.
- Sunday's contest will renew a long-standing series between UAB and South Alabama that dates back to the 1978-79 season. The Blazers hold a 26-14 record over the Jaguars and are 8-2 in meetings at Bartow.
- The Blazers have been solid from the free throw line so far this season, ranking third among Conference USA and 58th in the nation. As a team, UAB is shooting 72.8 percent from the stripe. Junior Chelsee Black leads the team and is second in C-USA with a .900 average.
- Senior Janae Smith has played particularly well at home this season. Smith has scored in double figures in all three of the Blazers' home games and finished with over 20 points in two of those contests.
- Senior Miranda Burroughs, who has hit a 3-pointer in seven of UAB's nine games, currently tops the league in 3-point field goal percentage and ranks 46th nationally. Burroughs is connecting on 41.3 percent from behind the arc.

Series
UAB and South Alabama have a long history as the teams are set to meet for the 41st time. The series dates back to the 1978-79 season but this will be the first time the Blazers and Jaguars will meet since 2008. South Alabama won the most recent meeting, 77-64, in Mobile on Nov. 17, 2008. UAB holds a 26-14 advantage overall and is 8-2 in games played in Bartow Arena.
Scouting the Jaguars
South Alabama (3-5) is looking to snap a three-game losing streak, most recently falling to Tennessee Tech, 70-66. The Jaguars last three games have all been on the road. Breanna Hall is leading South Alabama with 17.9 points per game and Chyna Ellis is averaging a team-high 6.4 rebounds per game. Hall also leads the team in 3-point field goals, having connected on 18 and shooting 45 percent behind the arc.
Success At Home
UAB has played particularly well in Bartow Arena this season, currently 3-0 heading into Sunday's game. The Blazers are shooting 41.3 percent from the field and averaging 64.7 points at home. UAB is holding opponents to just 51 points per game and outrebounding teams 125-94. Senior Janae Smith is averaging 24.7 points per game in UAB's three home games and juniors Dy'man Webb and Brittany Winborne are both averaging over seven rebounds per game.

UAB has been solid from the free throw line early in the season, hitting 72.8 percent from the line. The Blazers are 118-of-162 through their nine games, ranking third among Conference USA. In five of the nine games, the Blazers have been to the line at least 20 times and have also finished over 70 percent from the line in six games.
