BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- UAB women’s soccer senior Johanna Liney was named to the Conference USA All-Academic Second Team, the league office announced Wednesday.
Liney has been one of UAB’s most prolific goal scorers, tallying six in her senior season. She concluded her career No. 14 in program history with 18 career goals and is tied for 13th in the Blazers’ record book with 112 career shots.
The Marietta, Ga., native led UAB this season with six goals, 42 shots and 14 points. Liney recorded the first multi-goal game of her career this season, netting two goals against Chattanooga on Sept. 19. In the Blazers’ next match, she scored two more against UTSA on Sept. 26.
In her four years in Birmingham, Liney has been named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll on three occasions and earned the league’s Academic Medal in 2011. Liney will graduate with a degree in civil engineering.
The conference academic award marks the fourth for UAB during head coach Harold Warren’s tenure, and seventh in the past five seasons for the program.
