Blazers Looking Forward To Second SEC Matchup

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB football team continued preparations on Wednesday for its second game of the season against an SEC opponent, set for Saturday at Arkansas.
UAB is no stranger to traveling to an SEC venue this season after putting up the most points of any team against No. 1-ranked Mississippi State thus far in a 47-34 loss back on Sept. 6. UAB head coach Bill Clark talked Wednesday about how the success from that matchup translates into the players' mindsets moving forward this week.
"I think it gives our guys confidence," Clark said following Wednesday's practice. "I think it has throughout the year, but it's just two totally different situations and that's why we say every game is a different game."
After playing four of their first seven games at Legion Field to begin the season, the Blazers are now in the middle of a three-game road swing (Oct. 18 at Middle Tennessee, Oct. 25 at Arkansas, Nov. 1 at Florida Atlantic). Clark alluded to how the team has responded thus far in dealing with the road stretch, and what he expects from the players this week traveling to Arkansas and next week to Boca Raton, Fla.
"I really feel like our guys know how to handle the road," Clark said. "I think that's such a mentality and we travel well. But, at the same time, you've got their fans and noise and there are things that make you call it home. It should be an advantage for you hopefully like our place is, but I think our guys are handling it. They did a good job last week and I think it's going to be a constant, especially knowing the number of fans they'll have."
Like UAB, Saturday's contest marks the fourth non-conference game for the Razorbacks this season and the first-ever meeting between the two programs on the football field.
Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. CT on the SEC Network with Dave Neal (play-by-play), Andre Ware (analyst) and Laura Rutledge (sideline) on the call. Fans can listen to the game on the Blazer IMG Sports Network with David Crane (play-by-play), Steve Irvine (analyst) and Sam Miller (sideline) calling the action locally on WUHT-FM 107.7.
