Men's Tennis On Road For Pair of Matches

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB men's tennis team is back in action this weekend for a pair of matches when the Blazers travel to Memphis, Tenn. to take on No. 36 Memphis and South Alabama.
UAB (14-9) will meet the Tigers Friday at 2:00 p.m. CT before going against the Jaguars Saturday at 12:00 p.m. The Blazers will be playing their first match since a 7-0 victory over Troy on March 27.
These will be the final regular season matches for UAB before the Blazers play in the 2013 Conference USA Championship, also set for Memphis, April 18-21.
The Blazers have won 12 of their last 15 matches and are led by senior David Zimmerman who has won 14 consecutive matches at No. 1 singles.
The Tigers jumped up to No. 36 in the latest ITA rankings after posting a pair of wins last weekend over ranked teams. Memphis downed then No. 50 Louisville (4-0) before beating then No. 24 VCU (4-3) on Sunday.
Memphis has played its last 11 matches on the road. UAB leads the all-time series with the Tigers, 12-10-1.
South Alabama, the Blazers' opponent on Saturday, is currently 10-11 in duals this spring. The Jags defeated Troy, 5-2, in their last match on April 5.
