BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB men's tennis team will be back in action Wednesday as the Blazers travel to in-state Troy to take on the Trojans in a 2:00 p.m. CT match.
UAB (13-9) is coming off a 1-2 showing last weekend at the Hilton San Diego Mission Valley Spring Classic. The Blazers, which stayed in the ITA national rankings this week at No. 75, fell to No. 16 Harvard (4-1) and then-No. 72 Oklahoma State, 4-2, before downing Denver (4-1) on Saturday.
Senior David Zimmerman and junior Chris Helliar have paced UAB during singles play this spring. Zimmerman is currently riding a 13-match win streak in singles at the No. 1 position and has improved his record on the season to 17-5.
Meanwhile, Helliar is 17-5 while playing at the No. 4 (11-3) and No. 3 (4-2) positions in the lineup.
Troy comes into Wednesday's match with a 7-10 record but has lost its last four matches. The recent slide has followed a four-match win streak by the Trojans. Troy lost to another Conference USA opponent, UCF, last Saturday (4-0) in its most recent match.
