UTSA jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead after taking the first set 25-15. The Blazers battled back in the second set with four ties and two lead changes, but the Roadrunners held on to come out on top 25-20. They carried their momentum into the third set, capping off the match with a 25-20 win.
UAB fell to 18-12 overall and 5-6 in Conference
Leading the Blazer attack was sophomore Sam Skinner, who put down 10 kills. Junior Bethanie Thomas added eight kills and led the team with 14 digs. Junior Kiriana Hirini hit a team-best .333 on the night with seven kills.
Freshman Amber Treace dished out 29 assists and grabbed 11 digs to record her second double-double of her career.
The Blazers' offense was unable to get past the powerful defense of UTSA. The Roadrunners recorded 11 blocks and 58 digs in the win. Offensively, UTSA was led by McKenzie Adams with 23 kills. Adams, the reigning National Player of the Week, also had 12 digs in the match.
