BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The No. 17 UAB men’s soccer team will play its final match of the 2013 regular season on Friday, Nov. 8 when it takes on Conference USA foe Marshall. The team’s regular season finale is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. CT in Huntington, W.Va.
Conference USA Championship Bound
The UAB men’s soccer team has already clinched an invitation to the 2013 Conference USA Tournament. The conference tournament will be held in Charlotte, N.C. from Wednesday, Nov. 13 through Sunday, Nov. 17.
UAB is currently in fourth place in Conference USA with 13 points in league play. The Blazers can clinch the third seed in the conference tournament with a win at Marshall and a South Carolina loss to Old Domin­ion. UAB would clinch the fourth seed with a victory against the Thundering Herd or a tie in its final match and a Charlotte loss or tie to FIU.
Ranked For 10 Straight Weeks
The UAB men’s soccer team has appeared in each of the major national polls for the past 10 weeks, as announced on Tuesday. UAB is currently ranked No. 17 in the NSCAA Continental Tire Poll and No. 25 in the Soccer America Rankings.
The Blazers have been ranked every week since the first week of the regular season. In addition, UAB has appeared in the top 20 of the coaches’ poll for 10 consecutive weeks.
Last week, the UAB men’s soccer team cracked the top 10 of the NSCAA/Continental Tire Poll for the fourth time in 2013. UAB was ranked No. 10 in the coaches’ poll, as announced on Tuesday, Oct. 29.
In addition, UAB is ranked first in the Midwest region, for the fifth straight week. The Blazers also are ranked No. 30 in the country in the latest NCAA Men’s Soccer RPI Rankings, as announced on Monday, Nov. 4.
