UAB will begin its first season under head coach Randy Norton. Norton will rely on seniors Karisma Chapman and Ashley Grimes to lead the Blazers as they look for their fifth-straight winning season. Chapman returns as the leading-scorer from last season and was named to the 2013-14 Preseason All-Conference USA Team.
Also returning is a group of sophomores that includes Kayla Anderson, Schenia Battle, Chelsee Black, Khoria Newman, Dy'Man Webb and Brittany Winborne. Norton will have added depth from junior college transfer Miranda Burroughs (
Haunted Hoops, a Halloween-themed first look at the 2013-14 UAB women's basketball team, is free and open to the public. The evening's events will include several children's activities in the concourse and performances from the UAB pep band, cheerleaders and Golden Girls.
Bartow Arena gates will open at 6 p.m. and fans are encouraged to wear their Halloween costume. Prizes will be given away to the best dressed.
