BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB women’s soccer team will travel to Charlotte and Old Dominion for its final road weekend doubleheader of 2013 beginning on Friday. The Blazers will take on the 49ers on Friday at 6 p.m., followed by a matchup with the Lady Monarchs on Sunday at noon.
This weekend’s contests will mark the first road trip of October for the squad, after hosting three home matches to open the month.
In The Hunt
UAB is currently in a tie for third place in the Conference USA East Division. The Blazers have seven points thus far, tied with Marshall and Middle Tennessee.
Currently, UAB has one of the top offensive attacks in the conference. The Blazers rank third in goals scored (32) and goals per game (2.29). In addition, the Green and Gold are third in points (86) and fourth in assists (22) and assists per game (1.57).
Individually, sophomore midfielder Paige Hanks ranks tied for fourth in the conference in points (15) and goals scored (6). Hanks is also tied for ninth in points per game (1.07).
Scoring In Bunches
The UAB women’s soccer team has already surpassed the most goals it has scored in a single season since 2010. UAB has tallied 32 goals through 14 matches, for an average of 2.29 goals per game.
UAB has scored at least three goals in a single game on eight occasions in 2013. That marks the most matches with at least three goals scored since 2005. Also, the team only had four games in the last two years with at least three goals scored.
