Black Tabbed Student Athlete Of The Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – UAB women’s basketball player Chelsee Black has been named the Student Athlete of the Week following her strong performances against UCF and Houston, as well as a stellar showing in the classroom.
Black, a native of Bessemer, Ala., boasts a 3.62 GPA and averaged 6.5 points per game in two contests at UCF (Jan. 10) and against Houston (Jan. 13).
The Blazers are 2-0 in Conference USA action and boast an overall record of 11-4 thanks in large part to Black’s contributions both on and off the floor. Undecided on her major, she came to UAB from Bessemer City High School, where she was a 6A All-State First Team Selection.
Black joins the Blazers in El Paso, Texas on Sunday in a televised clash with last year’s C-USA champion UTEP. The contest will be televised on Fox Sports Network at 2 p.m. CT.
