Women's Soccer Hosts Marshall, East Carolina

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--The UAB women's soccer team remains at home this weekend, hosting Marshall and East Carolina at West Campus Field on Friday and Sunday, respectively. The match against Marshall is set for 7 p.m. CT, while the kickoff against East Carolina is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT.
LAST TIME OUT
After a four-game road swing, UAB (2-8, 1-1 C-USA) returned to West Campus Field to open the Conference USA schedule against Southern Miss and then-No. 6 UCF. Against the Golden Eagles, the Blazer defense dominated, and freshman Paige Hanks scored her second goal of the season in the 54th minute for the 1-0 win. On Sunday, UAB lost 6-0 to UCF.
ABOUT THE THUNDERING HERD
Last week, Marshall (5-5, 1-1 C-USA) opened the conference slate hosting Colorado College and UTEP. Against Colorado College, the Thundering Herd gave up two goals in the second half of a 2-1 loss. Marshall rebounded Sunday with a 4-1 victory over UTEP. Erin Simmons and Chelsey Maiden scored goals in both halves, and now lead the team in goals scored with five apiece.
ABOUT THE PIRATES
East Carolina (6-4, 2-0 C-USA) opened the conference schedule at home with a pair of 1-0 wins over UTEP and Colorado College. Lexi Miller and Kendall Frey scored goals for the Pirates over the weekend. Miller leads the team with goals scored and points (3g, 6p).
Next week, UAB will hit the road for its matches at UTEP and Colorado College. The Blazers will take on the Miners on Friday, October 5 at 8 p.m. CT before taking on the Tigers on Sunday, October 7 at 1 p.m. CT.
