BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The Belles & Whistles Luncheon serves as a way for the Blazer Women's Athletics Society to give back to UAB female student-athletes while demonstrating support for them and recognizing the tremendous job they do representing UAB.
On Wednesday, April 25, the fourth annual Belles & Whistles Luncheon raised nearly $50,000 in support of UAB female student-athlete scholarships.
The luncheon was held at the UAB National Alumni Society House and featured guest speakers Fran Braasch (the first UAB women's basketball head coach), Jenetta (J.J.) Johnson (one of Braasch's players), TaRonda Randall (UAB women's basketball), and Heather Thomas (UAB volleyball and sand volleyball). Lenora Pate served as the event's emcee.
Table captains, sponsors, and members of the Blazer Women's Athletics Society all contributed to another outstanding event. The Belles and Whistles Luncheon has generated more than $200,000 since its inception to assist with the advancement of UAB Athletics.
An annual membership to the Blazer Women's Athletics Society begins at $100 and members will be given the opportunity to mentor a UAB female student-athlete beginning in the fall of 2012 in addition to enjoying other great benefits.
