UAB Hosts UCF For Three-Game Set

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –The UAB softball team will host Conference USA opponent UCF in a three-game series at the UAB Softball Field. The Blazers and Knights will square off in a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m. and a single game Sunday slated for 1 p.m.

Series History
The Blazers and Knights will meet for the 20th time on Saturday. UAB leads the all-time series by one game, 10-9.
Last season, UAB took two of three games against UCF in Orlando, Fla. on March 26-27. The last meeting between the two teams was on May 12 at the Conference USA Championship in Greenville, N.C. UCF won that matchup, 2-1.
UAB At A Glance
The Blazers (25-14, 9-3 C-USA) and the Knights are in a three-way tie with Houston for second-place in Conference USA. UAB is coming off a 2-1 weekend at East Carolina and two run-rule victories in a Tuesday twinbill with Samford.
As a team the Blazers are hitting .287, outscoring opponents 169-111 and outhitting their competitors 297-229. UAB is averaging 4.3 runs per game and 7.6 hits per game.
Mandy Lowman leads the offensive output for UAB, batting .412 (42-of-102) and slugging .696. Kristen McGrath is tops on the team with 30 RBI and 10 homeruns.
The Blazer pitching staff owns a 2.27 ERA with eight shutouts, five saves and 13 complete games. Amber Torres leads the squad with a 1.14 ERA, allowing just 10 earned runs in 61.2 innings pitched.
Scouting UCF
Winners of 10-straight games, the Knights (30-10, 9-3) put their winning streak on the line in Birmingham this weekend. UCF is fueled by a 2-0 victory over No. 3 Florida on Wednesday.
Natalie Land leads UCF offensively with a .316 batting average, 43 hits and 35 runs. Farrah Sullivan leads the squad with 29 RBI and nine doubles.
Pitcher Mackenzie Audas holds an impressive 1.07 ERA with eight shutouts and 20 complete games. She has fanned 180 batters in 151.0 innings of work. She’s allowed 91 hits, 30 runs – 23 earned - and is holding opponents to a .172 hitting clip
