UAB Has 29 Student-Athletes Earn C-USA Academic Medal

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- UAB had 29 student-athletes earn the Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medal for the 2011-12 school year, announced C-USA commissioner Britton Banowsky Wednesday.
The 29 Blazers represent 13 different sports, with nine sports having multiple honorees. The women's soccer team had the most with six student-athletes earning academic medals, while baseball, cross country and women's tennis each had three.
A total of 538 student-athletes from around the league earned the honor, which is given to those C-USA student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better.
