Football's Stephen Herring Named SAOW

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- Stephen Herring of the UAB football team has been named UAB Student-Athlete of the Week for his excellence in the classroom and on the field for the Green and Gold.

Herring, a senior from Anniston, Ala., recently completed his Blazer football career on Saturday, Nov. 24 at UCF.  Herring saw action in all 12 games in 2012, both as a wide receiver and on special teams.  He recorded three receptions for 31 yards this season.

In the classroom, Herring has been an excellent student, maintaining a 3.7 grade point average with a major in exercise science. Herring was named as a C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll recipient in both 2010 and 2011.
