BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB junior women's basketball player Karisma Chapman has been named the Conference USA Co-Player of the Week for the week ending on Nov. 26, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Chapman, who has tallied three-straight double figure scoring efforts, has helped the Blazers to their best start since the 1994-95 season. Head coach Audra Smith's team is 6-1 overall and travels to High Point and George Mason in upcoming road games.
The Calumet City, Ill., native led her team to two victories over the weekend at the Samford Thanksgiving Classic. Against Tennessee State, Chapman tallied a perfect 15-for-15 mark at the free-throw line to pace the Blazers with 21 points in the win.
Her 16-point effort against Alabama State was also a team high and marked the sixth time in seven games in the 2012-13 season that Chapman has scored in double figures.
Chapman joins her team on Tuesday when UAB faces High Point University at 7 p.m. ET. The Blazers then travel to George Mason on Sunday for a 2 p.m. ET tip.
