Women's Soccer Travels To SMU, Tulsa

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--The UAB women's soccer team will hit the road for the final time this season to face SMU in Dallas, Texas, and Tulsa in Tulsa, Okla. this Friday and Sunday, respectively. The Blazers will take on the Mustangs at 7 p.m., while the match against the Golden Hurricane is schedule for 2 p.m. CT.
LAST TIME OUT
Last week, UAB (2-14, 1-7 C-USA) faced Houston and Rice in a pair of matches at West Campus Field. Against Houston, the Blazers took an early 1-0 lead, but were unable to stop the Cougar comeback, and ultimately lost 2-1.
On Sunday against Rice, sophomore Johanna Liney and junior Kirsten Ebert scored a pair of goals late in the 3-2 loss. Liney continues to lead the Blazers with 15 points (6g, 3a) and 34 shot attempts.
SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS
Last week, SMU (7-6-3, 3-2-3 C-USA) came out with a tie and a victory in its road trips to East Carolina and Marshall. Against East Carolina, the Mustangs took a 17-14 shot advantage, but neither side found the back of the net in a 0-0 tie. Facing Marshall, sophomore Olivia Elliott scored a goal in the 19th minute for the 1-0 victory. Sophomore Shelby Redman leads the squad with 18 points (6g, 6a) and 40 shot attempts.
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN HURRICANE
Tulsa (8-5-3, 3-3-2 C-USA) competed in its final road matches last weekend, facing Marshall and East Carolina. Against Marshall, senior Raven Tatum scored both goals in the 2-0 victory. Last Sunday, Tulsa took a 22-15 shot advantage in a 0-0 tie with East Carolina. Junior Claire Nicholson leads the Golden Hurricane with five goals.
Up next, the Blazers will return home for their final match of the season, hosting Memphis at West Campus Field on Thursday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. CT.
