Amber Jones Named Student-Athlete Of The Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Amber Jones of the Blazer women's basketball team has been named the UAB Student-Athlete of the Week.
A junior guard from Town Creek, Ala., Jones leads the Blazers in scoring with 14.1 points per game, while also topping the team in assists at 2.9 per contest. She scored 20 points Sunday against Memphis and enters UAB's game Thursday at Tulsa three points shy of 1,000 for her career.
Jones has scored in double figures in 12 games this season and led the Blazers in scoring nine times. She ranks seventh in Conference USA in 3-point percentage at .364.
In the classroom, Jones maintains a 3.63 GPA as an exercise science major. A member of the Chi Alpha Sigma National Athlete Honor Society, she has been named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll in each of her first two seasons and earned the league's academic medal as a sophomore last year.
The UAB women's basketball team (13-5, 4-2 C-USA) is on the road to take on Tulsa on Thursday night at 7 p.m. CT as C-USA play continues.
