BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The UAB football team practiced in full pads on Tuesday morning as precipitation continued to fall over the Birmingham area. Due to heavy rain fall from Tropical Storm Lee, the Blazers moved practice to Birmingham-Southern to utilize its turf field.
"I'd like to thank Birmingham-Southern for allowing us to come over here [to practice]. They've been very gracious and we really appreciate it," head coach Neil Callaway said.
Even with cool and wet conditions, Callaway was pleased with the effort put forth by his team as the Blazers prepare for their season opener at Florida on Saturday.
"We had some weather issues, but the guys worked hard and we had a lot of energy and enthusiasm," Callaway said. "We were practicing for Florida and the scout team gave us a good look. We did some competition stuff, but not a lot, mostly working on Florida."
Saturday's kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (6 p.m. CT) with the game being televised by Fox Sports South. The contest will be carried live on the Blazer IMG Sports Network, airing locally on 107.7 WUHT-FM. David Crane and John Whitcomb will call the action with the pregame show beginning at 5:30 p.m. ET (4:30 p.m. CT).
