BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ------ The UAB football team continued its preparations for Saturday's game at Troy on Wednesday as the Blazers worked out at Legion Field due to wet field conditions at their campus practice fields.
The Blazers (0-3, 0-2 Conference USA) and Trojans (1-2, 1-0 Sun Belt) will kick off at Veterans Memorial Stadium at 6:05 p.m. CT and be televised by SportSouth.
"We were able to get into some things and make up some things from yesterday (due to inclement weather cutting the Tuesday practice short) and catch up on what we missed," head coach Neil Callaway said. "We went to Legion Field because our fields are still too wet."
As the Blazers prepare for Saturday's game, one area of concern is the Trojans' passing game. Troy quarterback Corey Robinson has thrown for 979 yards and connected on 59 percent of his passes. According to Callaway, Robinson has been impressive in spreading the ball around to his receivers.
"They are probably deeper than anybody I have seen at receiver in a long time," Callaway said. "It seems like they have about 12 guys that they rotate in and out, they keep them fresh and spread the ball around pretty well.
"Their quarterback did a nice job last year, but I think he's matured and he's distributing the ball well. And this year, they've run him some in critical situations so that's something that we have to make sure we are aware of."
The game will be carried live on the Blazer IMG Sports Network, airing locally on 107.7 WUHT-FM. David Crane and John Whitcomb will call the action with Sam Miller roaming the sidelines. The pregame show begins 90 minutes before kickoff.
