BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- UAB redshirt sophomore Thomas Sutton is the second men's golfer to be highlighted in a season-long player profile series on UABsports.com called "In The Clubhouse." Throughout the year, UABsports.com will continue sit down with a member of the men's golf team and ask him random questions ranging from favorite tournaments to his childhood hero.
Sutton is off to a fast start to the 2011-12 campaign as he led the Blazers at the Saint Mary's Intercollegiate over the weekend. The Montgomery, Ala. native carded an even par 216 (75-68-73) to finish tied for fifth overall in the 83-man field. It marked the best finish of his career, topping the eighth-place result he recorded in the Blazers' season-opening tournamnet, the Sam Hall Intercollegiate.
Last season, Sutton competed in all 12 tournaments for the Blazers as a redshirt freshman. He had a 75.66 per round average, which included a career-low round of five-under par 67 in the first round of the Wolf Pack Intercollegiate.
