BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- Blazer Boosters hosted its inaugural B Club Kickoff Dinner last Friday in the George C. Wallace Building. B Club members also enjoyed reconnecting with former teammates in catered skyboxes during Saturday's UAB vs. Tulane football game.
The B Club is the official former letterwinner organization within UAB Athletics. B Club member benefits include multiple events throughout the year, including the Kickoff Dinner, a catered skybox during a football game, a catered pre-game party for a designated Saturday conference game for Men's Basketball, and a Blazer Blitz tailgate at the spring football game.
Other benefits include an alumni discount for season tickets, a free season ticket to an Olympic sport, access to the B Club football tailgates, and e-mail newsletters.
Friday's Kickoff Dinner included a social, a tour of the Athletics Department's recently completed weight room and training room, Full Moon-catered meal, and a 30-minute program. Within the program, B Club President and 1998 UAB Football Alumnus Lee Miller welcomed all attendees, Athletic Director Brian Mackin spoke about upcoming facility plans, and Associate Athletics Director Coleman Barnes informed guests of Blazer Boosters' Grand Initiative.
"I enjoyed the Kickoff Dinner Friday night," said Lee Miller. "This was the first B Club event of the year and the first dinner we have had as a B Club event. It was a great success."
On Saturday at the UAB vs. Tulane football game, all B Club members were invited to two fully-catered skyboxes for the football action. For the remainder of the football season, B Club members are encouraged to attend the designated tailgate area adjacent to Blazer Village in the northwest lot.
Assistant Director of Development and Sales Chance Jones is leading the efforts to recruit new B Club members: "Referrals are so vital to the growth of the B Club," Jones said. "Former student-athletes usually maintain a strong network from their time at UAB, and we've had some great B Club members this year who actively look to grow the B Club and get their teammates involved."
