BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- UAB senior Jason Shufflebotham is the first men's golfer to be highlighted in a season-long player profile series on UABsports.com called "In The Clubhouse." Throughout the year, UABsports.com will sit down with a member of the men's golf team and ask him random questions ranging from favorite tournaments to his childhood hero.
Shufflebotham is coming off a strong 2010-11 campaign in which he garnered all-conference second-team honors. He earned a spot as an individual at the 2011 NCAA Men's Golf Regional and used that experience to help him capture the 2011 Welsh Amateur Championship over the summer.
As Shufflebotham sets out to begin his senior season, he is extremely focused and has set lofty goals. The captain of this year's squad will look to lead UAB back to the NCAA Regionals as a team for the first time since 2008.
"It's always an honor to captain any team," Shufflebotham said. "I am looking forward to passing on things I have learned over the years to the freshmen and helping in anyway I can. Hopefully I will be able to lead us to an NCAA Regional this year. Obviously, the ulitimate goal is to win a national championship, but you can't do that without making it to regionals. I think it's going to be a fun ride."
