"The UAB rewards program is a great way of thanking Blazer fans and a way to increase loyalty and attendance at athletic events," said Brad Smith, Assistant Athletic Director of Marketing.
Once fans join the program, they will be awarded points for each designated UAB athletic event. Rewards are earned for 10, 20, 40, 50 and 80 points and the prizes include T-shirts, hats and other exclusive items in addition to the grand prize.
The program gets underway this Friday at the UAB women's soccer season opener against Samford. To join the program, simply register for a UAB Rewards Program stamp card at select home events. On Friday, a registration table will be set up in the main entrance of West Campus Field.
The program is open to all UAB students and fans. After they register, members will be issued a UAB Rewards Program stamp card and have their cards stamped at each designated event they attend.
Once fans accrue 10 points, their roster spot will be activated and they will receive a 2011 UAB Rewards Program Team T-shirt and a personal scan card. The scan card will then be scanned at designated UAB athletic events. At 20 points, members will attain "All-UAB" status and will receive a 2011 UAB Rewards Program hat.
Attend 30 events, and fans reach "All-Conference" status and receive an additional exclusive award. Attend 40 events and you have attained "All-American" accolades and receive another exclusive gift. Attend 50 events and you have earned "Hall of Fame" honors and you'll receive another exclusive reward. Once members hit the 80-point mark, they will have achieved "Gene Bartow" legendary status and receive an exclusive award.
Every 10th event you attend earns you an additional entry in to the grand prize drawing. At the end of the season, all members of the program that have 50 or more points will be eligible for the grand prize drawing which will take place during the 2012 football season.
