Tickets Still Available For Eighth Annual Reception And Auction

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ------ Tickets are still available for the Eighth Annual UAB Athletics Reception and Auction, coming up on Saturday night, Aug. 27.
The event will be held at the new, on-campus UAB National Alumni Society House (located on the UAB campus at 1301 10th Avenue South) and will begin at 6:00 p.m.
The auction is open to the public with WJOX radio personality Tony Kurre serving as emcee and former UAB student-athlete and current Mayor of Tuscaloosa Walt Maddox as guest speaker.
The event will be an opportunity for Blazer fans to kick off the 2011-12 athletic year and to interact with UAB head coaches while helping raise funds for Blazer student-athlete scholarships.
Both the silent and live auction will feature many outstanding items. A sampling of the live items that will be available are: a week vacation for up to six people at Abaco Island in the Bahamas, UAB vs. Florida Gators football and basketball team travel packages, a round of golf with 2010 U.S. Open champion Graeme McDowell and sculptures by renowned artist Frank Fleming.
Space is limited and fans are encouraged to order their tickets by the Friday, Aug. 19 deadline.
