BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- UAB first baseman John Frost was named to the all-tournament team at last week's Conference USA Championship after hitting .500 (7-for-14) with five RBI over three games at the event in Pearl, Miss.
Frost had multiple hits in all three games, including three in UAB's tournament-opening win over top-seeded Rice. The sophomore from Decatur, Ala., also drove in three runs against the Owls as the Blazers defeated the C-USA regular season co-champion for the third time this season.
Frost went on to post two hits and one RBI in each of UAB's next two games against UCF and Memphis. He had a pair of doubles for the week on the way to a .643 slugging percentage.
UAB (29-28) wrapped up its third consecutive winning season last week. Rice went on to win the conference tournament and earn one of four bids for C-USA teams into this week's regional round of the NCAA Championship.
