UAB Takes Down Tulane, 47-39

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Cameron Moore scored 14 points and pulled down 16 rebounds to lead UAB past Tulane 47-39 on Saturday, extending the Green Wave's losing streak to seven games.
The Blazers (16-6, 6-3 Conference USA) led 19-12 at halftime after shooting 27.6 percent from the floor (8 of 29) in the first half. UAB led 28-12 with 15:28 remaining after Tulane made just 4 of its first 33 shot attempts (12.1 percent).
UAB improved to 5-0 under Mike Davis in games against Tulane at Fogelman Arena. The Blazers have won 8-of-9 over the Green Wave overall since Davis became head coach.Aaron Johnson added 11 points and Ovie Soko grabbed 11 rebounds for the Blazers.
With four assists Saturday, Johnson also moved into second place on UAB's career list with 588. He passed Jack Kramer who handed out 586 from 1988-91. Johnson only needs 10 more assists to move into the No. 1 spot on the Blazers' all-time list. Steve Mitchell (1982-86) holds the school record with 597.The Green Wave (12-10, 2-7) tied a school record for fewest field goals in a game (14) and their 39-point output is the third-lowest since 1949. Tulane scored 30 points against Rice on Dec. 2, 1982, and 31 points against LSU on Feb. 7, 1953.
Furthermore, the 39 points allowed by UAB was the fewest points it has allowed against any C-USA opponent in the Blazers' 16-year history in the league.
Jordan Callahan scored 14 and Kendall Timmons added 10 and 10 rebounds for the Green Wave, who finished 14 of 51 from the field (27.5 percent).
On Wednesday, the Blazers travel to take on Marshall in Huntington, W.Va. at 7 p.m. ET (6 p.m. CT). UAB took the first meeting in Birmingham on January 26 by a score of 60-56.
