UAB Continues Road Swing At SMU

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB women's basketball team continues its two-game road swing at SMU on Sunday. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m. CT at Moody Coliseum in Dallas, Texas.
UAB leads the series, 4-3. The two teams met twice last season, with the Blazers earning a 62-60 win on Jan. 7 in Birmingham before capturing a 64-55 victory over the Mustangs in the quarterfinals of the C-USA tournament on March 9 in Tulsa, Okla. UAB is 0-2 in Dallas and 3-3 against SMU since the Mustangs joined C-USA for the 2005-06 season.
The Blazers (13-12, 5-7 C-USA) are coming off a heartbreaking 58-57 loss at Marshall on Thursday. Senior guard Amanda Peterson scored 23 points in the contest, hitting a season-high seven 3-pointers.
Sophomore guard Amber Jones leads UAB in scoring with 11.2 points per game, while Peterson is averaging 10.6 points per game. Junior center Meagan Brown leads the Blazers on the boards with 5.5 rebounds per game.
The Mustangs bring a 13-12 overall and 6-6 C-USA record into Sunday's contest. SMU is coming off a 77-70 loss to East Carolina on Thursday.
A trio of players are averaging double figures for the Mustangs, led by Delisha Wills' 10.8 points per game. Christine Elliott and Samantha Mahnesmith aren't far behind at 10.7 and 10.6 points per game, respectively. Elliott also leads the team with 7.9 rebounds per game.
