Blazers Play Final Regular Season Home Game Thursday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB women's soccer team will host eighth-ranked Memphis on Thursday night at West Campus Field in its final home game of the 2011 regular season. Before the beginning of the contest, which kickoffs at 7 p.m. CT, four seniors in Pascale Pinard, Carolyn Polcari, Tiffini Turpin and Allison Young will be recognized.
The Blazers slipped to 5-11-1 overall and 2-6-1 in Conference USA play, dropping two games on the road last weekend at then-No. 20 UCF, 1-0, and at Southern Miss, 2-1 (OT).
Polcari paces the Blazers with eight points (3g-2a), while Turpin and junior Emma Smith round out the top three scorers for the Blazers with seven points (3g-1a), respectively.
League-leading Memphis (17-0-1, 9-0-1 C-USA) travels to Birmingham after gaining a pair of 3-0 victories at Southern Miss and UCF over the weekend. Sophomore Christabel Oduro leads the Tigers and the conference with 25 points (11g-3a).
The all-time series between the Blazers and the Tigers is locked at 8-8-1. Memphis edged UAB, 2-1, in the teams' last meeting in Memphis, Tenn. (10/28/10).
