BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- UAB baseball signee Ivan De Jesus will compete in the Big League Baseball World Series championship game Wednesday night at 7 p.m. CT on ESPN2.
The outfielder leads his team from San Juan, Puerto Rico against the Thousand Oaks, Calif., team at JB "Red" Owens Complex in Easley, S.C.
The Puerto Rican team has rolled through the tournament with a 5-0 record, including a 12-0 win Tuesday night over Panama in the International semifinal. De Jesus has started all five games in left field, hitting safely in each contest out of the leadoff spot in the batting order.
De Jesus, a product of Puerto Rico's Cupeyville High School and a sixth-round draft choice of the Chicago Cubs, signed with UAB in May.
