UAB Travels To Kennesaw State For Midweek Matchup

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB baseball team hits the road Tuesday for 6 p.m. ET (5 p.m. CT) midweek contest at Kennesaw State its final tuneup before Conference USA action begins this weekend.
Tuesday's meeting is the second of two this season between the teams, which played in Birmingham on March 3 with UAB earning a 10-2 victory.
The Blazers (10-7) go into Kennesaw on a three-game winning streak after sweeping Western Illinois at home over the weekend. The Blazers completed the sweep by taking both games of a Saturday doubleheader. Devin Hamilton singled home the game-winning run in the ninth inning of the first contest, and Luke Stewart homered twice in the game two victory.
Stewart leads UAB with four home runs and 17 RBI on the season, and he has now moved into second place on UAB's all-time home runs list with 32 in his Blazer career.
Freshman John Frost also owns 17 RBI and leads the UAB regulars at the plate with a .387 batting average. Fellow freshman Ryan Ussery is close behind Frost with a .351 average.
Kennesaw State (9-12) split at doubleheader at Campbell on Saturday, but the Owls dropped two out of three games to the Camels in their first Atlantic Sun Conference series of the season. After opening the year 1-7, KSU has won eight of its past 13 games.
Ronnie Freeman paces Kennesaw State with a .305 batting average. Tyler Stubblefield has hit five home runs to lead the team, while Peyton Hart has driven in a team-high 20 runs.
