UAB Hosts Southern Miss on Sunday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB women's basketball team returns to the court on Sunday, hosting the Southern Miss Lady Eagles at 2 p.m. in Bartow Arena.
UAB (10-12, 4-6 C-USA) has played Southern Miss (7-16, 3-7 C-USA) more than any other team and the Lady Eagles lead the series, 32-15. USM had won seven in a row against the Blazers until Jan. 15 when UAB claimed a 49-46 win over the Lady Eagles. Prior to that, the last time UAB won was in January of 2006, a 73-70 victory, in Birmingham. Overall, UAB is 8-13 when playing in Birmingham and 6-11 against Southern Miss at Bartow Arena.
The Blazers are looking to snap a six-game skid when Southern Miss comes to town. UAB fell victim to UCF in their last outing, dropping an 80-73 decision on Friday.
Freshman guard Jala Harris has continued to put up record numbers, ranking second in Conference USA with 17.8 points a game and leading the league with 22.6 points a game in conference contests.
The Lady Eagles are coming off an 89-85 overtime loss at Memphis on Friday. Prior to that, Southern Miss had won three in a row, all coming at home. The Lady Eagles have yet to win a road game this season.
Forward Pauline Love, who missed the previous meeting against the Blazers, leads Southern Miss with 17.2 points and 12.6 rebounds a game. Guards Candace Rucker and Tanesha Washington are also averaging double-digit points a game at 11.5 and 11.1, respectively.
