Thomas Petrich Named UAB Student-Athlete Of The Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Thomas Petrich, a senior member of the Blazer men's tennis team, has been selected as the UAB Student-Athlete of the Week.
Petrich, a native of Herrischried, Germany, went 10-9 in singles action as a junior during the 2008-09 season and played everywhere between No. 3 and No. 6 in the lineup last spring.
In the classroom, Petrich maintains a 3.15 overall GPA as a fitness leadership major. He posted a 3.25 GPA in the recent fall semester.
The UAB Student-Athlete of the Week is highlighted each Sunday night on Blazers All-Access, which airs locally at 11:05 p.m. on ABC 33/40.
Petrich and the men's tennis team are 0-1 in the early going of the 2010 spring campaign following a season-opening loss to nationally-ranked Georgia Tech. UAB is back in action this weekend with road matches Saturday at Birmingham-Southern (Noon CT) and Sunday at Chattanooga (10 a.m. ET).
