UAB Signee Jala Harris Named Alabama's Miss Basketball

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Jala Harris, a senior at Bob Jones High School in Madison, Ala. and a UAB women's basketball signee for the 2009-10 season, has picked up the state's top honor by being named Alabama's Miss Basketball by the Alabama Sports Writers Association (ASWA) this past Thursday.
Harris, a 5-7 guard, has led Bob Jones to back-to-back Alabama 6A state championships, including being named Most Valuable Player of the state tournament this season.
She has been racking up numerous accolades lately, including being named Alabama's 6A Player of the Year and first-team all-state by the ASWA, Birmingham News' Player of the Year and earning a spot on the Alabama-Mississippi Basketball Classic roster.
"We are very proud of Jala's accomplishments during her high school career," said UAB head coach Audra Smith. "We are confident that she will be able to come to UAB and contribute in a big way. She is a very talented basketball player and an all-around great person."
Harris signed a National Letter of Intent with the Blazers during the early signing period this past November.
