Zack Sucher Tabbed First-Team All-C-USA

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB senior golfer Zack Sucher has been named to the Conference USA First Team as voted on by the league's 11 head coaches, announced conference officials on Tuesday. Sucher's selection marks the second straight year he earned first team accolades and the third consecutive season he was an all-conference performer.
"I am happy that Zack was once again recognized as one of the top golfers in the conference," UAB head coach Alan Kaufman said. "Zack has played an important role in our success over the last couple years and I am happy to see his hard work paying off."
Sucher was one of only two UAB golfers to compete in every tournament this season, leading the Blazers in seven of the 11 events. For the year, Sucher averaged 73.03 strokes per round, including a 71.47 during the fall season.
Last fall, the two-time All-American captured his sixth career individual title when he won co-medalist honors at the 2008 Shoal Creek Intercollegiate. In all, Sucher, who was the 2008 C-USA Golfer of the Year, finished the season with five top-10 finishes, including a third-place showing in the 2009 C-USA Championships, and six top-25 results on the year.
Joining Sucher on the All-C-USA First Team was UCF's Blayne Barber and Simon Ward, Kelly Kraft of SMU and Tulsa's Nicolas Geyger.
After winning its first Conference USA Championship last week, the UCF men's golf team swept the individual awards. Barber was named both the C-USA Golfer of the Year and Freshman of the Year, while Ward was voted Newcomer of the Year and head coach Nick Clinard was named the league's Coach of the Year.
Freshman James Kwon of SMU and UCF's Brad Schneider are joined by five seniors on the All-Conference USA Second Team. East Carolina's Andre Thorsen, Memphis' Jordan Payne, Rob Laird of Tulsa, UCF's David Johnson and Roger Sloan of UTEP were also named to the All-C-USA Second Team.
