Blazers Have 34 Earn C-USA Academic Medal

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB has 34 student-athletes who have earned the Conference USA Academic Medal for the 2008-09 academic year, C-USA commissioner Britton Banowsky announced Friday. The medals are given to those C-USA student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.75 or better.
The Blazers had 12 different sports with student-athletes that qualified for the Academic Medal, with softball leading the way with seven honorees and baseball close behind with six.
A total of 397 student-athletes from around the league achieved the honor this year, an increase of more than 17 percent from the previous year.
