Women's Golf Finishes 13th At EKU El Diablo Intercollegiate

CITRUS SPRINGS, Fla. - Sophomore Lindsay Taylor paced the Blazers with a 54-hole score of 240 as the UAB women's golf team placed 13th at the EKU El Diablo Intercollegiate. The Blazers shot rounds of 330, 331 and 341 for a total of 1002 at the par 72, 5,902-yard El Diablo Golf and Country Club.
Ball State maintained its lead from day one to claim the tournament title with a score of 914. The Cardinals shot rounds of 304, 301 and 309 on their way to first place out of 15 teams.
James Madison and Florida Atlantic tied for second place with matching scores of 927. Indianapolis was fourth at 937 and St. John's placed fifth with a score of 950.
Taylor recorded rounds of 78, 83 and 79 to place 26th in the individual race with a total score of 240 to lead UAB during the competition.
Sophomore Jaime Brabb and senior Christina Wentworth tied for 57th place after each carded a 252 for the tournament.
Sophomore Emi Boozer tied for 72nd with a score of 258 and redshirt sophomore Ashley Looney tied for 76th after tallying a 265.
"We didn't play very well during this tournament," said UAB head coach Kim Wilcox. "It wasn't an overly difficult course, but for some reason we never play well there. We just didn't hit the ball well during the past two days and that is what hurt us."
The Blazers will be back in action on Monday when they begin play at the Samford Intercollegiate at Limestone Springs in Oneonta, Ala.
