BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ------ The UAB men's tennis team will return to action Friday as the Blazers are scheduled to play host to Chattanooga and Washington (Md.) College.
However, a forecast for inclement weather in Birmingham has forced a change in plans for head coach Derek Tarr and his team. The Blazers had been scheduled to play Chattanooga at 12:30 p.m. and then go against Washington later in the day at 5:00 p.m.
But because of the weather situation, UAB will now play the Mocs indoors this morning at Samford University with a scheduled start time of 9:30. The match with Washington College could be cancelled if the weather doesn't allow.
The Blazers (1-5) are playing in Birmingham for the first time since their season opener Feb. 1 against North Alabama when UAB won, 6-1. Since then, UAB has played five matches -- all on the road and all against ranked opponents. The most recent action for the Blazers was last Sunday when they fell to South Alabama in Mobile by a 5-2 score.
