Blazers Play East Carolina In Final Home Game Sunday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB women's basketball team will play its final home game of the season on Sunday when it hosts East Carolina at 2 p.m. CT at Bartow Arena. The game will also serve as Senior Day for the Blazers, honoring Brianna Berry and Britney Jones for their contributions to the program over the past four years.
Sunday's contest between UAB and East Carolina will mark the 15th meeting between the two programs, including the second time this season. The Lady Pirates hold a 8-6 advantage in the all-time series, including a 70-64 victory over the Blazers earlier this season in Greenville, N.C.
UAB enters Sunday's game with a 10-16 overall record and a 5-8 mark in Conference USA play. The Blazers will try to snap a two-game losing skid, including a 67-50 loss to Marshall this past Friday.
Jones, one of UAB's two seniors, leads UAB with 17.8 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 3.4 apg and 2.2 spg. Jones' 17.8 ppg leads C-USA overall, while her 19.9 ppg in league games in first in the conference as well.
Sophomore Amanda Peterson is also a big offensive weapon for the Blazers, averaging 11.9 ppg and sinking a total of 65 three-point baskets this season. Peterson's 65 treys rank fourth in the UAB record books for three-pointers made in a season.
East Carolina comes into Sunday with a 15-11 overall record that includes a 6-7 mark in league games. The Pirates have yet to win a conference game on the road this season and fell at Memphis, 74-68, this past Friday.
Senior guard LaCoya Terry leads East Carolina with 17.1 ppg on 41.4 percent shooting this season. Terry is also adding 4.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.8 steals per game for the Lady Pirates.
Senior guard Jasmine Young is also scoring in double figures with 11.2 rpg, while leading East Carolina in assists with 5.5 per contest.
