Women's Basketball Hosts Tulsa Thursday On CBSC/CSS

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB women's basketball team will conclude its four-game homestand by hosting the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Thursday at Bartow Arena. Tip off is scheduled for 8:06 p.m. CT and the game will be televised live nationally on CBS College Sports and regionally on CSS.
Thursday will mark the sixth meeting between the two programs. UAB holds a 4-1 advantage in the all-time series, including winning the past four meetings. The Blazers snatched a 78-74 double-overtime victory over the Golden Hurricane a season ago in Tulsa.
UAB has a 9-14 overall record and a 4-6 mark in Conference USA as it enters Thursday's game. The Blazers are looking to rebound from a 65-60 loss to Memphis this past Saturday.
Senior guard Britney Jones continues to lead Conference USA and the Blazers with 18.2 ppg overall, including a league-best 21.4 ppg against conference opponents. Jones' overall scoring average also ranks 28th in the nation.
In addition to scoring, Jones also leads UAB in assists and steals with 3.4 apg and 1.9 spg, while contributing 4.2 rpg and nine blocks as well.
Sophomore guard Amanda Peterson is chipping in 11.1 ppg and serves as the Blazers' top three-point shooter, leading C-USA and ranking 48th in the nation in three-point baskets per game with 2.3.
Junior guard Fatiha Salaam is scoring 10.7 ppg for UAB and junior forward Tamika Dukes is putting up 8.7 ppg and pulling down a team-best 7.0 rpg.
Tulsa comes into the contest with a 6-16 record overall, including a 2-8 mark against C-USA opponents. The Golden Hurricane has lost its last three, including a 72-43 loss at Southern Miss this past Sunday.
Forward Larissa Williams paces Tulsa with 14.2 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game. Williams ranks 36th in the nation in blocks per game and 42nd in rebounds per outing.
Kara Vaughan is contributing solid play all around for the Golden Hurricane, averaing 7.7 pp, 4.1 rpg, 1.7 apg and 0.9 spg. Tulsa's top guard play is courtesy of Tatum Beer, who is scoring 4.1 ppg and is leading the team in assists (2.2 apg) and steals (1.6 spg).
