BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Blazer junior Amanda Peterson, a member of the women's basketball team, has been selected as the UAB Student-Athlete of the Week.

The guard matched her season-high with 14 points this past Saturday in UAB's 84-60 win over Mississippi Valley State.
An exercise science major with a 3.65 GPA, Peterson was a Conference USA All-Academic Team selection a season ago. The Homewood, Ala., product has also been named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll twice and received the league's academic medal once.
The UAB Student-Athlete of the Week is highlighted each Sunday night on Blazers All-Access, which airs locally at 11:05 p.m. on ABC 33/40.
Peterson and the Blazers (3-5) are off this week for final exams. The team returns to action Monday, Dec. 14 when it hosts Central Michigan at Bartow Arena for a 7 p.m. CT tipoff.
