BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB women's basketball team will host the Mississippi Valley State Devilettes on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Bartow Arena. The meeting marks the fifth between the two teams, with the Blazers winning all four previous contests.
The most recent contest took place in 1995 at Bartow Arena, with UAB capturing a 68-53 win. The only other meeting at Bartow occurred in 1992, as the Green and Gold earned an 85-63 victory. The Blazers have won the last three meetings by at least 12 points.
UAB is coming off back-to-back losses to North Texas last Saturday and No. 13 Georgia on Tuesday. Senior forward Tamika Dukes leads the Blazers with 12.6 points and 7.3 rebounds a game. Dukes has scored double figures in six of seven contests this season
The Devilettes are coming off an 83-44 loss to Iowa State on Tuesday after defeating Talladega College last week. MVSU is led by Ashley Brown with 11.8 points a game, while Ka'Neshia Smith averages 5.8 rebounds a game to lead the team.
