Somis Sports Most Improved List
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB women's soccer team has been ranked as one of the most improved teams in the nation according to Somis Sports. The Blazers rank 21st after improving to 11-7-3 during the 2009 season.
"We had a very young group of players this past fall who put in a great deal of work to put themselves in the mix as one of the top teams in the country," head coach Paul Harbin said. "We're extremely excited for the future and plan to take another step forward next season as a team."
The Blazers, who were ranked 24th by Soccer America during the season, were the only Conference USA team to make the list. UAB earned a 1.18 rating according to Somis, which calculated a team's improvement by comparing its final 2009 rating to an adjusted 2008 rating. A team's rating roughly equates to net goals (goals scored minus goals against).
