BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Nick Crawford, a junior second baseman for the Blazer baseball team, has been named the UAB Student-Athlete of the Week.

This past summer, Crawford was selected to the All-Cape Team after hitting .304 and continuing his strong defensive play with just one error while playing for the Hyannis Mets of the prestigious Cape Cod League.
In the classroom, Crawford is a finance major who entered his junior year with a 3.22 cumulative GPA. He is a two-time member of the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and a 2008 recipient of the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal.
The UAB Student-Athlete of the Week is highlighted each Sunday night on Blazers All-Access, which airs locally at 11:05 p.m. on ABC 33/40.
Crawford and the UAB baseball team are preparing for the start of the 2010 season in February. The Blazers are coming off a 31-26 campaign a season ago, which included series victories over fourth-ranked Rice and eventual College World Series participant Southern Miss.
