Blair Selected To Conference USA All-Academic Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- UAB senior defender Danielle Blair has been voted to the Conference USA Women's Soccer All-Academic First Team for the second consecutive season, as released Wednesday by the league office.
Blair has been highly decorated for her academic and athletic success throughout her four years at UAB. The Scarborough, Ontario, Canada, native was recently selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV First Team, marking the third consecutive season she has earned academic all-district recognition.
Blair has started 64 career games for the Blazers, including all 19 this season. She has helped UAB to a No. 8 ranking in the Central Region as part of a defensive unit that is holding opponents to 1.21 goals per game in 2009.
In addition to her contributions defensively, Blair has also scored two goals and recorded one assist in her career.
In the classroom, Blair has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA as a triple major in industrial distribution, management and marketing. She has been named to UAB's President's List every semester during her career while also earning a spot on the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and being recognized with the league's Academic Medal of Honor for the past three years.
Blair and the women's soccer team (11-6-2) open play in the 2009 Conference USA tournament Wednesday night at 5 p.m. CT in Dallas, Texas, against UTEP.
