This past weekend was our last long bus ride of the year! 20 hours on a bus... Can you imagine? We traveled on Friday to West Virginia to take on Marshall. West Virginia is a beautiful state, and I am always struck by its beauty when I go there. We enjoyed some great team bonding time at our hotel, but unfortunately, our match against the Herd did not go well and we lost in three rapid-fire sets. This loss was extremely disappointing to our team and our coaches. We continue to try and find our groove and settle into the volleyball we know we are capable of playing.
As we headed back to the bus, AGAIN!, we tried our best to shake off the loss and focus about Sunday. We spent most of the day Saturday on the bus, and we turned our thoughts to our next match at East Carolina. Once there, we were actually happy to go to the gym. We practiced once we arrived on Saturday to get our bodies moving! On Sunday morning, we woke up, wolfed down some delicious bagels, and we all talked about how we had a great feeling about the match. We were right; we fortunately won the match in 4 games! East Carolina is a good team, so we were very pleased to come away with a win! We then showered and got on the bus quickly (well, as quickly as a bunch of girls can) to head back to Birmingham.
We did lots of homework on the journey home, and we were so happy to see Bartow when we arrived late Sunday night! We have our final two home matches this week on Thursday and Saturday. We take on Marshall Thursday night, and Saturday, we take on Memphis. While we are excited about Saturday's match, we will also enjoy a bittersweet moment as Saturday is SENIOR night! I cannot believe my college volleyball career is winding down and the other seniors feel the same way. It is hard to believe that Saturday will be our last home match at good ole' Bartow! Please come out and support us this week, and please join us as we celebrate our seniors on Saturday night. As always, thank you for supporting us. Blazer fans are the best fans to be found in any college. Go Blazers!! See you on the court!
