BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB women's soccer team is tied for the No. 5 spot in the Central Region in the latest poll released by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) on Monday. The Blazers are one of four Conference USA schools listed in the top 10.
After going undefeated on the road this past weekend, UAB is ranked No. 5 alongside Kansas, Colorado and Missouri. The Blazers hold an overall record of 9-4-1, including a 3-2-1 mark in league play.
Fellow C-USA school UCF is holding the No. 1 spot in the region, while Memphis is listed as No. 3. Colorado College is in the No. 4 spot, followed by UAB at No. 5.
The Blazers will be back in action on Friday when they host Tulsa at 7 p.m. CT at West Campus Field. The evening, which will serve as UAB's Senior Night, will also serve as the Blazers' HIV/AIDS awareness game.
UAB and Grassroot Soccer will host the Lose the Shoes soccer tournament, a three-versus-three soccer tournament benefiting Grassroot Soccer. All proceeds from the tournament will be donated to Grassroot Soccer to help kick HIV/AIDS in Africa.
In addition, a silent auction will be held during the UAB/Tulsa game and all proceeds from this auction will benefit both Grassroot Soccer and Birmingham AIDS Outreach.
