TaRonda Randall Named Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- TaRonda Randall, a freshman on the Blazer women's basketball team, has been selected as the UAB Scholar-Athlete of the Week.
As a true freshman, Randall has played in 13 games and started five for UAB. The center from Greenville, Ala., is averaging 10.3 minutes per game and ranks second on the team with seven blocks. She recorded the best statistical game of her young career Nov. 28 with six points and six rebounds against Evansville.
Randall is off to a fast start in the classroom, as well. A political science major, she completed her first semester at UAB in December with a 3.85 GPA.
Randall and the Blazers return to the court Thursday with a 7 p.m. CT contest against Conference USA foe Southern Miss at Bartow Arena. UAB is coming off a 71-62 victory Sunday at Memphis in its C-USA opener.
